This is getting really confusing, it was so much easier when everyone loved Dustbowl and there were never any arguments about which map was the best ever.
But now we have choices. So now you can nominate maps! Yay! Type "nominate" in game to nominate whatever you want, then you can also rockthevote if you want to change it sooner than the rotation that is alotted. I am really worried about this, mainly because I don't think rotation servers work at all, but eh it's one of those transitional periods were we just gotta try different options. Currently the mapcycle is only Dustbowl and Egypt, so if it doesn't get any nominations those are the only two maps we will be playing. Does this make sense? Good. -------------------- |

Last night, the nominate feature only gave the current map as an option. rockthevote didn't do much of anything, as far as I could tell. But hooray for these new features! Thanks Mike!

I am really worried about this, mainly because I don't think rotation servers work at all... Out of curiosity - why do you think rotation servers don't work? I'll admit, I loved the pure Egypt server, but I did get a little tired of the same map every day. There are so many good vanilla maps, and I love that I can now play some of them without having to jump ship to some random lame server with a bunch of strangers playing on it.I mean, imagine my joy when I joined the server today and was dropped right into Badlands. Good times. -------------------- |

Honestly I'd never thought I'd play tc_hydro again, but that was some fast paced fun there.
It was also a joy playing some new maps I'd never done before. I'm really liking this system. The only thing I see that could be a small problem down the road is if someone selects the same maps over and over (the downfall of any vote in server). I'm loving the variety, I'd just like people to not be so much the same all the time. -------------------- |

Actually, it won't even give the option for voting for the same map that was played last rotation. There's an upside and a downside to this, of course, but all in all, I'm loving this system.

The spawn times are automatically set lower, so korn doesn't have to it anymore!
And I don't think rotation servers work (normally) because people look for a certain map, and when they find that map they want to play only that map Example: If I were o type in my search filter cp_dustbowl, I would want to look for only servers running dustbowl. When that map changes to gravelpit, I'd leave. Just a short example, it used to make sense..but that was when TF2 first came out so I guess the times, they are a changin'. -------------------- |

And I don't think rotation servers work (normally) because people look for a certain map, and when they find that map they want to play only that map That makes sense, yeah. And I didn't think of it that way, but now that you mention it, I feel like it's kind of a good thing. The servers seem to generally attract regulars instead of random hobos off the street, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back - I'd rather be gibbed by someone whose name I know than by fragzmaster394, whom I'll never see again.Example: If I were o type in my search filter cp_dustbowl, I would want to look for only servers running dustbowl. When that map changes to gravelpit, I'd leave. If the servers were always empty, I guess I'd see it as more of a problem. But it seems to me that the server usually fills up pretty quickly at predictable times. So if you're looking for a server that's packed around the clock - which would be nice, I guess, because I have some pretty weird sleep patterns - then heavier traffic would be good. But I figure that would also mean that the regulars would have a lot more trouble finding an open slot during primetime. Just my 2¢. -------------------- |
