I play a lot on the Egypt server, it'd be a shame to lose. In about a week or so I am launching a GSP. I have to talk with my partners, but I think we might be able to cut you a nice deal (lower than your current budget) on a 500FPS/66 tick server and web hosting to help keep costs down. Pure Internap bandwidth out of Chicago, we own the hardware. If this interests you, let me know.

Wouldn't it be $54? In any case, I think this will work.

No thanks, I'd rather stick with a company that has a name for itself already.

I can understand that.
I assure you we're a solid company financially and technically. We are three successful adults in our respective professions, so its not a fly-by-night kiddie operation as some are. Anyway, the offer is still open if you change your mind. I'd be willing to get you a month to try it out and see what you think, even just as a 2nd server. I can PM you our web site if you're interested in taking a gander. Either way, I hope you can work something out . . . have a lot of fun on your servers. -------------------- YOUR RENT IS DUE!

I don't know if you know Landlord, mike, and i know it looks scammy since he just created an account to post this, but Landlord has been playing on the Egypt server for a long long time. And beside being a really good player, he's a nice guy too. You can probably find him pretty high on the Hlstats haha. But yeah, you should definitely take up his offer on free trial month, so that we (well...when I have internet again) still have a good Egypt server to play on.
But yeah, just vouching for him as legit community member; I have no idea if his GSP is/will be any good |

Good call with the one server, looks like just what we need for now. I like us being a tighter-knit community.

I know it is a "done deal".
Keeping 2 CP maps and dumping the only decent CTF map makes little sense to me. Before I play each night I've been looking at the numbers on the servers. Egypt has not been busy, Dustbowl usually half full to full ( but mostly the same people). 2fort half full to full with a core of 4 to 6 regulars, the rest are people I don't know. My long winded point here is if you want tCo to keep growing you need more. If you're happy with the core group , loosing the fringe and new players then you're going about it the right way. Even rotating between two maps that are the same type (CP, CTF or combo) players will bail when it switches, look how many jump when the maps we have now reset. Is this an 11 hour plea? Get the Governor to stop them from throwing the switch....maybe. I've been biting my tongue, and crossing my fingers every time I want to play, hoping 2fort is still up. I'm newish to tCo but not the game. I met almost all the fine folks on my friends list on tCo 2Fort. A couple of met on other servers but once we found The Couch we got right comfortable and stayed. I have a lot of fun playing. I have a fairly stressful life (as we all do), TF2 (2Fort) is one of my outlets, since that made it illegal to run around on the street with a flame throw, Rocket launcher or a high powered rifle ( damn gun registry ruined everything ( Canadian joke)). From reading the Forums, as we became aware of this problem, a lot of people offered help, either money or by other means. Yet, nothing happened. Was no one contacted? Was it all lip service? I feel all the avenues to keep tCo a viable community where not pursued and as a result of the quick decision made, tCo is on a path of implosion. I am still willing, as I'm sure others are too, to help keep tCo going forward. But, as i said at the beginning, the path that seems to be chosen is reverse. Reverse is never good in any business model. The only time reverse is good is when you missed that hitchhiking hippy the first time and need to back up to make sure you hit them, but that's a different reverse (lol needed some humor). That's it thanks for taking the time to read this. I had to get this off my chest. I hope I got my point across and didn't piss people off (not my intention (I use the game for that). Hope to continue kill'n (and being killed by) you all soon. -------------------- |

It's not that we don't want to keep our servers open.
Mike just can't afford to pay for them himself, being a student and all. I'm amazed he's made it this far, as I would've failed ages ago. Only way we're going to keep the 2fort server is if someone steps up and funds it themselves. But joint operation as such always end in tears. So, it is what it is for now and if it doesn't go well, then we will either change it up or figure something out. Personally I've never liked 2fort. Only time I have was on TFC. I don't like most of the people that have come from there, as that's where all the immature kids seemed to congregate to spam and hack and be idiots. But that doesn't mean I don't like EVERYONE that came from there. We have a lot of great members from there. But preserving it isn't high on our list. Our roots are in Dustbowl, so we're trying to get back to our roots as much as possible. Maybe build up from there again, as it was so very successful before. Good to know at least our members care. -------------------- HoN Item Guide.

I've given $ over the last few months, and will gladly continue, but a note back from someone would be nice (at least saying, we got your $, here's how you can connect).
I kinda agree with Toy on the 2fort idea, and I see the point about joint ownership. I think we'll figure this thing out - maybe dropping the server will get people off their butts and their wallets??? -------------------- |

To whom it may concern; I would like to thank Mike for personally financing and keeping the servers alive for so long, I understand that for a college student it is difficult enough to buy ramen noodles and beer little lone keeping gaming servers up and running on your own dime. All who have donated I think can be assured that Mike has used the money to help finance the Couch operation. My question and statement is this, What would it cost monthly to add 1 2fort server and hlstats. Now if it is reasonable enough, then I agree with Toy and let those who have stated they want to donate to step up and work togther to keep a 2 fort server running. I think with the contributions of financially stable members then we can work something out. If it is something that the tCo powers that be dont want to move forward with then could a few members break out an individual 2 fort server and still have it listed as a couch server? If all of this is for naught then I will surf the monster server list and find a 2fort server that we can adopt so the veteran 2fort gamers can get their fix. The Couch Online has done a great job fostering a gaming community and that is hard to do. Like Toy, I have used TF2 and 2Fort as my stress outlet. I am sure there are many more folks out there that do the same and if you wanted to talk about it and come up with some ideas, I will send my personal email address to you. Long live 2fort, Toy Soldier for President 2010.....(or is it Mountie Captain in Canada)? meridius22 -------------------- If you rush a Miracle Man, then you get rotten miracles!

We knew you weren't an English major - you're from Tennessee! When I get drunk I have a tennessee to slur my words too. LOL!!! Well, I may not be as sharp as a bowling ball but I can talk smart when needed.....With the sensitive respect to human scale, the introduction of brutalism presents extremely synergistic challenges to the anticipated degree of human ambiance. We also have 4 things in Tennessee that you ain't got.... 1. Jack Daniels 2. No state income tax 3.Davy Crockett 4.Rocky Top Wish that I was on ol' Rocky Top Down in the Tennessee hills Aint' no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top Ain't no telephone bills Once I had a girl on Rocky Top Half bear, other half cat Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop I still dream about that. Rocky Top you'll always be Home sweet home to me Good ol' Rocky Top Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee Once two strangers climbed ol' Rocky Top Lookin' for a moonshine still Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top Reckon they never will Rocky Top you'll always be Home sweet home to me Good ol' Rocky Top Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee Just a sample for you.......................We can get drunk anytime you like, perhaps you could come to Tennessee and we could go camping and discuss fusion dynamics........ By the way, If Toy was the Captain of the Mountie Guard in Canada, then who cleans up the bear poo in the woods? meridius22 This post has been edited by meridius22: Feb 10 2010, 03:03 PM -------------------- If you rush a Miracle Man, then you get rotten miracles!
