Quick, General Info
Team Fortress 2, the almost 10 year in the making sequel to Team Fortress Classic, which is an addon to the original, classic Half-Life game. The Team Fotress series of games is unique because it has mixed strategy and constant fast paced action to provide a online shooter than you need to constantly be thinking to do well in. With amazing, unique, almost childish graphics, Team Fortress 2 was noted the best multiplayer, class-based game ever created. Ever. This is a short guide / introduction to the game, incase you aren't quite sure what the types of things are nessasary to excel in the game.
The Point
The point of Team Fortress 2 is to, like most other games, destroy your enemy at all costs. In the Team Fortress series, your enemy is, simply, either red or blue. Each team has their own base in the beginning, and the mission is either to capture the other teams flag, or capture the other teams check point. Both types of missions are timed games, if you don't finish within a certain time frame, "You Fail!".
Differences from Other Games
One thing you will notice different from other games, is that Team Fortress 2 is very unrealistic in respects to the amount of damage you can take. One shot with any gun will rarely lead to your demise. A sniper who has been fully charged is the only excpetion to this rule. Also, when you die, you wont have to sit out for the rest of the game, you will respawn in a matter of time back at your base, which keeps the action fast paced and full of thrills.
The Classes
There are a total of nine classes that you will have to chose from when you first join a server, they are as follows:
Demoman - Shoot's pipe bombs which explode after about 3 seconds, and pipe bombs which are remote controlled.
Engineer - Builds sentry guns, teleports, and dispensers to aid your team in defense, speed, and ammunition/health.
Heavy Weapons Guy - Has a Minigun, which has a wide spread at long range, and lethal accuracy at point blank range.
Medic - Heals teammates, and can also make teammates invulnerable. Can also heal spies
Pyro - Has a flamethrower which ignites enemies and deals damage over time.
Scout - Speedy class with low HP and can double jump.
Sniper - Long range, the sniper rifle charges up and does more damage the more charged you are.
Soldier - Rocket Launcher equipped, four per clip. Can 'rocket jump' to jump very high.
Spy - Can cloak to become invisible to enemies, and can also mimic the enemies in appearance. Backstabs = 100% death rate.
Each class has strenghts and weaknesses, try to play them all to get the feel of what kind of class you would do the best with.
